Finished - the Chinatown Cake Club Recipebook!

Almost exactly one year ago, I started the Chinatown Cake Club on a whim. What began as a small, intimate affair between friends quickly grew into a monthly event where I served a grand total of over 500 people (almost all strangers whom I had never met before) 70 different and original desserts in my tiny shithole of an apartment. After several months of hosting parties, I started collecting the more legible of my frosting-stained notes and began compiling a cookbook-fanzine of sorts, hoping that maybe since the Cake Club is on hiatus (I lost my apartment), other people could use my recipes and enjoy them. I brushed off my gluesticks and my long arm stapler, and now, just before the eve of my first anniversary of the Cake Club, I am happy to say that it is finished.

It was hard to narrow down what recipes to use and what to leave out, but overall I feel like the contents are a good summary of the type of desserts I like to make and what the Chinatown Cake Club represents. There are twenty recipes included:

Simple Syrup
Pandan Charlotte Russe
Chocolate Peanut Butter Macarons
Green Tea Mont Blanc
Chocolate Sex Cake
Taro Meringue Tarts
Whiskey Cake with Caramel Buttercream
Campfire Cake
Sesame Oil Ice Cream
Soy Sauce Ice Cream
Budweiser Ice Cream
Durian Cake
Matcha Azuki Bean Cake
Carrot Cake with Condensed Milk Frosting
Elvis Cake
Café Sua Da Torte
Vietnamese Tres Leches Cake
Persimmon Caramel Terrine
Snowskin Mooncakes
Pink Peppercorn Shortbread Cookies

This project was a labor of love, and while I'm by no means a professional cookbook writer, I like to bake and I hope some of that enthusiasm brushes off on whoever decides to undertake these recipes. I didn't have enough of a budget to do photos (if I had the money this thing would be 3D full color!) but I have tried to make the recipes as clear and easy to use as possible.
